[ ] Set up a blog page at:

using my own test blog as test content. One side will be the blog for articles from Rabbi Kieval, one for articles from Rabbi Ornstein. (Do we need space for Rabbi Durbin as well? Should that go on the Talmud Torah page?)

The content comes out of my Blogger/Blogspot blog. It is processed through Feedburner (now a Google service) to become an RSS/Atom feed and published using the BuzzBoost service through Feedburner. Customization can be done using CSS.
Spent the morning with Nancy, Colleen and Scott. Nancy will add Talmud Torah calendar dates, Colleen will add Nursery School and Bess will add USY and Mifgash from existing calendar list. Jeff Cohen requested that Bar/Bat Mitzvah students' names be entered as First name Last initial. Nancy and Colleen suggested that calendar data would be entered and calendar would be ready to go live on 11/2.

Bess will spend time on Tuesday 11/3 at the Staff meeting to discuss changes and how they may affect workflow.

Mock up

I have shared the following site redesign mock-up for Ohav's web presence with the rest of the committee:

based on the mind-map I created over a year ago.

Meeting 2

I missed a lot of meeting 1 over the cell phone "teleconference"...  For meeting 2, I came away with the following Action Items list for myself:

[ ] fix the grammar, especially on the first page
[ ] create a Forms page for the existing site
[ ] create a new front page and send to the committee
[ ] cover letter/email for advertisers.  Ellen will scan and send me the existing copy.
[ ] mailing lists? How many do we have/need?  Let's get a handle on this...
[ ] Does our hosting include Listserv or equivalent services?  Does Google Groups meet our needs?
[ ] document what we can do with Google Tools and email to the group
[ ] start drafting workflows - what do we want to communicate and to whom?

Also, we agreed we need to write an opt-out for the paper DASH in favor of electronic version.  New ideas for the web site include: a members-only area; using blog entries for all committees and Rabbis' posts; open listserv lists for members to discuss non-official ideas; an announcement-only listserv list for official Ohav business.

Nancy returns on 5/18/09.  I will bother her about a week later and try to get a handle on the communication and workflow setup.
